When he was 20 years old, Frank Csapo left Hungary in search of his American dream. Today, he’s helped more than 180 Geneseo students find theirs.
Frank believes in opening up possibilities for the next generation. For more than 25 years, he’s supported Geneseo students through annual scholarships and financial aid to the college his children graduated from and the community that has become a part of his family business.
Frank is one of Geneseo’s most passionate philanthropists, and he built that reputation alongside his local construction business and off-campus student housing. His recent gift of $100,000 established the Csapo Family Endowment, helping develop, expand and maintain educational programs and experiences for Geneseo students.
Because of his enthusiasm for what’s possible, Frank’s generosity will continue to be the springboard for our students to seek out new opportunities and experiences. Like Pete Wayner ’11, who received Frank’s Ambassador Apartments Endowed Scholarship in Journalism, giving him the freedom to explore his love of documentary-style videos and storytelling.
When it comes to our next generation’s education, Frank won’t let lack of funds get in the way. By taking financial stress out of the equation, he’s helping Geneseo students find their place in the world. Through this campaign, Geneseo will double the scholarships offered to students and prioritize ways we can minimize the financial barriers that prevent students from attending Geneseo.
“That scholarship gave me the freedom to focus on academics—to think about what I actually wanted to do while I was in school without stressing about the bottom line. It’s extremely important. It’s the greatest gift anybody could give a student.”
— Pete Wayner ’11
