Renovate to Innovate: Milne Library Will Open Opportunities

Ask any current or former collegian and they’ll tell you that a university’s library is a cornerstone of life on campus and learning without boundaries.

Whether students gather to collaborate on a group project, seek support as they research and write their thesis, or need quiet spaces for study sessions, they know where to turn at Geneseo.

Because the library is a key player in students’ success, we’re working on renovations to the Milne building. Phase Two of construction began in late 2022, and we’re on track to have Milne Library open during the 2024-25 academic year.

Large windows with beautiful views of the Genesee Valley, a new café and events/multipurpose room, group study rooms, increased seating and more is in store for students once the renovations and reimagining of the library are complete.

Our priority at Geneseo is to inspire and empower students to connect: With each other. With their education. With themselves. Through an inclusive, welcoming environment, our library is an environment that fosters community, inspires innovation and encourages collaboration—for all.

“We are excited about the opening of the renovated Milne Library, which will offer a flexible learning environment with options for study areas, active learning classrooms, dedicated space for library collections, and beautiful views of the valley. Our award-winning library services will continue to enhance learning and student success at Geneseo in this inviting space.”
